The Best Summer Program for Teens in 2026 (And Why Parents Around the World Keep Choosing This One)

Every summer, parents around the world face the same dilemma.

Eight to ten weeks of unstructured time. A teenager who is either bored or scrolling endlessly, or both. And a growing, nagging feeling that this summer — like the ones before it — is going to slip away without anything meaningful to show for it.

You've searched. You've compared. You've probably bookmarked seventeen tabs and closed them all without committing to anything.

This post is going to make that decision simple.

Because after five years of running one of the most effective youth entrepreneurship programs in the world — with students from Canada, the United States, Kenya, and beyond — we know exactly what separates a summer that changes a young person's life from one that just fills calendar squares.

And we want to show you what that looks like.

Why Summer 2026 Is Unlike Any Other

Here's what the research is telling us right now.

AI is reshaping every industry your teenager might work in. The World Economic Forum has identified creativity, critical thinking, resilience, and communication as the skills most essential for young people in the coming decade — and most schools are not systematically building them. Meanwhile, the average teenager spends more than seven hours a day on screens during summer break, and study after study links excessive unstructured screen time to rising anxiety, lower confidence, and what researchers call "summer slide" — the measurable loss of skills and momentum between school years.

Parents searching for summer programs in 2026 are not just looking for something fun. They are looking for something that matters. Something that genuinely shifts how their child sees themselves and what they're capable of.

That is exactly what Student Summer Ventures was built to deliver.

What Is Student Summer Ventures?

Student Summer Ventures is a 6-week virtual entrepreneurship program for young people aged 10 to 18+, running from June 23 to the end of August 2026.

It was created in 2021 by Jessica Flynn — Ontario Certified Teacher, award-winning educator, bestselling author, and social entrepreneur — in direct response to the skills gap the pandemic exposed. Since then, it has been delivered internationally by request, including with university students, and has produced results that consistently surprise even us.

This is not a passive online course. It is not a series of recorded videos your teen will watch halfway through and forget. It is a live, coached, community-based experience where young people go from having a vague idea to running an actual venture — in six weeks.

Students have launched dog-walking businesses, artisan ice cream brands, online courses, pet care services, custom tumbler companies, children's websites, cooking channels, and snow removal operations. Not as hypothetical school projects. As real, operating ventures with real customers.

✅ 89% of students launch an operational business venture during the program ✅ 92% complete the full program — including cohorts of at-risk youth ✅ 9 in 10 parents report a positive shift in their child's mindset within weeks

How the Program Works: The B.O.S.S.™ Framework

Every week of Student Summer Ventures is built around our proprietary B.O.S.S.™ framework — the proven four-pillar structure that has driven every cohort since 2021.

B — Believe It (Weeks 1–2): Mindset First

Before any venture takes shape, we build the foundation. Students create vision boards, work through growth mindset frameworks, and discover what becomes possible when they commit to believing in themselves. Many students tell us this phase alone was worth the entire program.

O — Observe the World (Weeks 2–3): See the Opportunity

Great entrepreneurs don't just have ideas — they see real needs. Students connect their unique interests and passions to genuine community needs, including challenges mapped by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. They set goals with purpose and define exactly who they want to serve.

S — Shape Solutions (Weeks 3–5): Build the Venture

This is where it gets real. Students develop their venture budget, build their brand identity, create a website mock-up, and define their offering with branding, pricing, and customer research built in. By the end of this phase, they have something they can show the world.

S — Share (Week 6): Tell Your Story

Ideas without audiences go nowhere. In the final phase, students produce their pitch video, finalize their narrative, and learn to communicate their venture with confidence — a skill that travels into every classroom, job interview, and conversation they will ever have.

Who Is This Program For?

One of the things that makes Student Summer Ventures genuinely different is that we teach by stage, not age.

Whether your child is 10 or 17, they enter the same cohort, and we meet them exactly where they are. The B.O.S.S.™ framework works regardless of age, background, academic record, or prior experience. It has worked with students from Grade 4 through post-secondary — in every cohort, every year, since 2021.

Your teen is a great fit if they are:

Curious — they don't need a business idea yet. They need a willingness to explore what they care about. The idea finds them.

Open — willing to try, willing to be wrong, and genuinely willing to be surprised by what they're capable of.

Ready to build something real — not a school project. A real venture that reflects who they are and creates genuine value.

No prior experience needed. No business background required. Just a young person who is ready to show up.

This Program Is Global — And Spots Are Limited

Student Summer Ventures runs fully virtually, which means your teen can participate from anywhere in the world.

We have welcomed students from across Canada, the United States, Kenya, and multiple other countries into our cohorts. The diversity of the cohort — different cities, different backgrounds, different ideas — is itself one of the most valuable parts of the experience. Your teenager will work alongside young founders from around the world, which is exactly the kind of global perspective the future demands.

Coaching calls run Tuesdays at 1 PM EST and Thursdays at 6 PM EST — two time slots designed to work across time zones and around summer camps, sports, family travel, and real life.

📅 Platform opens: June 22

Kick-off call: June 23 at 6 PM EST

Milestones due: End of August 2026

Milestones are due by the end of August, with flexibility built in for summer schedules. Registering siblings? Save 10% on each additional registration.

What Students Actually Build

Here is a small sample of what past cohorts have created — to give you a real picture of what your teen could walk away with:

🐕 Snow Gone — a snow removal service that signed neighbourhood clients during the program

🐾 Dog Walking Services — a local pet care business with a branded website and active bookings

🎨 AKCZ Kids — Custom Tumblers — a product business selling hand-decorated drinkware

📚 The Book & Cook Course — an original online course combining literacy and cooking for kids

🐦 LF Birds — a niche business selling and rehoming birds with a growing local following

🍽️ Charcuterie Boards — a catering-adjacent food business serving local events

✏️ Drawing Art — a creative services business with a digital portfolio and commissions

These are not pretend businesses. They are not school assignments. They are ventures that real young people built, branded, and launched in six weeks.

What Parents Are Saying

"This program is a powerful catalyst for confidence, creativity, and future success." — Gillian Fairley, General Manager, Community Futures South Georgian Bay

"I don't know what you did, but she's different. In the best possible way." — Parent of a Student Summer Ventures graduate

"Even as CEO, the coaching calls are still where I get the most joy — and where we never stop learning." — Jessica Flynn, Founder & CEO, The YOU Power Project™

Why This Program Over Everything Else

There are hundreds of summer programs. Many of them are good. A few of them are genuinely excellent. What makes Student Summer Ventures different comes down to four things.

Your teen builds something real. Not a certificate. Not a slideshow. An actual venture with a brand, a website mock-up, a budget, and a pitch. Something they can show a future employer, a university admissions committee, or a customer.

It is built for every kind of learner. We have a 92% completion rate across five years — including with at-risk youth, with and without stipends. Our framework works because it meets students where they are, not where we wish they were.

The community is global. Your teen does not just get a program. They get a cohort of young founders from around the world who are building alongside them. That peer energy is something no recorded course can replicate.

Jessica Flynn leads every call herself. This is her signature program. She built it. She runs it. Every coaching call, every cohort, every year. When you enroll your teen, they are learning from the founder directly — not a contractor or a facilitator following a script.

Enrollment Is Open — But Spaces Are Filling

Student Summer Ventures 2026 begins June 23.

The platform opens June 22, so students can explore before the kick-off call. Coaching runs through August, with all milestones due by the end of August 2026.

This is the summer your teen goes from consumer to creator. From scrolling to building. From wondering what they're capable of — to knowing.
